Teen Services

Teen Bill of Rights

Minors (under 18 years old) have the following rights, without notice to or consent of their parents:

  • Get a pregnancy test
  • Receive prenatal care and postnatal care
  • Apply for Medicaid independently if you are pregnant (Medicaid pays for clinic visits, STI screening, pap smear, medicines, sonograms, lab work, appointments with other doctors and hospitals)
  • Place your baby for adoption
  • Obtain contraceptives (Minors seeking family planning services at a Title X site and minors who have Medicaid have independent legal rights to obtain contraceptive services without notification or consent of a parent)

Teen Fathers

Dad, it’s your baby too! PAC welcomes the involvement of teen fathers in their partner’s care. Fathers are encouraged to come to prenatal appointments and watch the childbirth video, so that they can be a part of their child’s life right from the start. Once your baby is born, you and your partner can learn about childcare basics together at your baby’s pediatric appointments.
